Using commercial feed is an excellent
way to increase the overall size of the fish in your pond. Be sure
to follow these simple rules when feeding your fish.
-
Feed around the same time and
location each day.
- Feed once per day by hand or
several times per day when using automatic feeders.
- Feed only as much as they can
eat in 15 to 20 minutes without any remaining feed. Wasted feed
can become spoiled very quickly during summer months and spoiled
feed is toxic to your fish. DO NOT OVER FEED.
- Begin feeding in the spring when
waters warm to 60 degrees F.
- Stop feeding in the fall when
the water temperature drops below 60 degrees F.
