ATAC has a variety of sizes and colors of domestic koi, butterfly koi, comet goldfish, shubunkin, and fantails. Our scavengers include tadpoles and Japanese trap door snails. ATAC fish are not fed for 24 hours prior to being shipped in order to reduce the ammonia levels when they arrive to their new home. Your fish will be placed in a plastic bag with water and pure oxygen for transfer home from our hatchery. Once home, place the sealed bag (do not open bag) on top of your pond and float for 20 minutes. This will acclimate the water temperatures between the water in the bag and your pond’s water, reducing the risk of thermal shock.

STOCKING DENSITIES

Fish should be stocked at no more than 1 inch per 3-5 gallons of water (see Calculating Surface Area on Page 2, multiply SA in square feet by the depth in feet, this is the cubic feet of your pond and now multiply that times 7.5 gallons per cubic foot=gallons of water). Stock scavengers at same rate as submerged plants, 1 per square foot. Scavengers include Japanese trap door snails and tadpoles. These scavengers feed on green algae as well as waste feed and other decaying organic matter. Feed fish the same way as on FISH FEEDING - Ornamental Fish food is also available.
